DR. JAMEY ALLEN – Podiatrist

Dr. Berenter welcomes San Diego native Dr. Jamey Allen to our Practice!

Growing up – Dr. Allen was active in a variety of sports – as were other members of her family, including her two sisters.   Volleyball was a particular favorite of Dr. Allen’s – despite various foot and ankle setbacks along the way.

Following high school, she enrolled at the University of Arizona, where she played on the Division I Woman’s volleyball team.  Her active membership in the Chi Omega sorority included raising donations for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Dr. Allen says her multiple ankle sprains and injuries while playing collegiate sports – and observing the best treatment for those injuries – actually helped spark her interest in podiatry. “I suffered multiple ankle sprains and a fracture to my foot”, she says.  “Those experiences going from an injury and returning to the game led me to become interested in this field.”

Following graduation with honors from Kent State University College of Podiatry Medicine, Dr. Allen went on to complete her residency at Cambridge Health Alliance, which is affiliated with Harvard University. During that time, her research included the study of arthroscopy techniques to address osteochondral lesions.  After residency, she went on to a do a 1-year fellowship at a UCLA affiliated program to expand her expertise in Complicated Foot and Ankle procedures.

Dr. Allen is an avid runner, hiker, cook and…you guessed it – volleyball player!  Her numerous volunteer efforts include working in the medical tent at the Boston Marathon where she has assisted in treating a variety of podiatric injuries, and even hypothermia.

We are excited Dr. Allen has returned back to San Diego and is joining our team here at Dr Berenter’s office.
