Dr. Berenter’s patient Edith from San Diego is having laser treatment for a neuroma on the bottom of her foot. Edith has been seeing Dr. Berenter since having surgery done on one of her toes. Her husband Bill started coming to Dr. Berenter’s office at Scripps Memorial Hospital / Ximed over 7 years ago.
According to the American Podiatric Medical Association, the vast majority of people who develop neuromas are women. It is a painful condition, and is sometimes called a “pinched nerve” or a nerve tumor. In addition to pain, patients describe their symptoms as a burning sensation, tingling, or numbness between the toes and in the ball of the foot.
